It's been a busy holiday break, but I did manage to squeeze a few drawings in. This happened (the rough at least) while I was on the train with my bike.

From my house, I can ride downhill (mostly) to the outskirts of downtown Los Angeles. It's a great route down the Arroyo Seco and the funky working-class neighborhoods of "The Avenues".

And from there I can tap $1.50 off of my pre-paid commuter card and hop onto the greatest invention of all mankind: The Gold Line Train. After I wrap my bike up with a bungee cord, I pull out my Moleskine book and an orange pencil and get to work. I've got about 20 minutes to doodle, before the train comes to a final stop at the Sierra Madre station, 15 miles away from, and far above (elevation-wise) my house. Then I put away my Moleskine, un-bungee my bike and ride home.

From the station to my house, I'm going mostly downhill again. But now I'm going through San Marino, which is wealthy and majestic beyond all belief. It is also, I must admit, beautiful at this time of year. Big wide blemish-free streets with Sweet Gum and Gingko trees in their spectacular fall colors.

Next week at this time I'll be back at work, and I'll be riding in again. And that is also a good ride. I'll give you the details of that ride in another post.
