Mechanical Engineering Poetry: Pinball Machines

Okay, let's try something new.

Pinball machines! I've always loved them. They are a rare example of mechanical engineering poetry (which, as you may know, is something that I'm trying to resurrect on this earth).

Did you know they were all handmade? So friggin cool.

Here's a fantastic little news blurb from the BBC, the Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas has a "Director of Things and Stuff", who explains his job, and the unique beauty of pinball machines. He mentions the word "mechanically random", which is a thrilling concept.

He also gives one of the greatest quotes about passion ever uttered: "This is the kind of insane dedication to being insane that you have to have in order to do this stuff. " Wunnerful.

I suppose if I was willing to risk the copyright infringement, or if I could afford the lawyers, I'd just embed the video here. But alas, there is a more practical limitation in that, I don't have a clue as to how to embed a video, even if it was my own and I had full rights to it.

And visiting this museum is now on my bucket list. How friggin cool is that really? A Pinball Museum!

I may not be a fascinating part of the world myself, but the world is certainly filled w fascinating things. Wow.
