     I cycled downtown like a madman, but still missed my train by seconds. Half an hour's wait for the next train, which was enough time to pencil this in…once I caught my breath.

And now for something completely different….

This was for the "Miniature Show" at work. They gave out a bunch of 4 x 4 canvases (about 10 cm x 10 cm) and told us to bring them back as finished works for a group show. 

I very rarely use real acrylic paint, but it was fun to do it this time.

Downhill

They have these bright yellow notecards in the supply closet at work. On the "non lined" side, they are great for doodling stuff out, although they are a little bright to begin with, and once you scan them into digital they are "glowing nuclear waste" bright. 

(Which is okay. With a few keystrokes, the image can be desaturated down to a level that doesn't cause physical pain in your eyeballs).

 This one was done kind of by request on Saturday night. My daughter and I had just sat down at a restaurant bar in Marina Del Rey. I pulled out my sketchbook while we were waiting for our drinks and asked her what I should draw. 

"Draw something with your marshmallow cats". 

Well okay then.

Land Line

     I've always enjoyed drawing things that are just slightly out of date. Manual typewriters, airplanes with propellers, and land line telephones. 

     I doodled out the pencil underdrawing on the train yesterday. Lightly with orange on the way to work, then I tightened it up with red on the way home. I inked and highlighted it last night in my studio. That's fairly normal for me.

The Big Scoop

     Okay, which one of you jokers made off with all of my brown ink? I usually have several bottles of it bouncing around my studio, as well as a few bottles that have been spiked with a few squirts of black india ink for the almost perfect sepia brown. 

     But last night all I could find was pure black india ink. Which, okay. It's not my fav… but "done" is better than "perfect".

This one is about a year old. It's a re-do of a really bad painting I did when I was 22. I still have that original "bad" painting. My plan was to display them side by side, but after a year, I still don't have my act together. And I don't have any other decent painting to post right now. Soooo.....
